in the newly released v.1.0.6 we have introduced this very sweet feature that can greatly enhance your work with Performer, and here's a short walk-through:

"bank up" and "bank down" buttons will now send an OSC message, together with a number value representing which bank you're on
Image

if you're still reading and not running to try it out, you may be thinking "ok.. and how does it help?"

so here's just one example for you mac users -- download this new osculator preset >> http://konkreetlabs.com/download/oscula ... preset.zip

open it in OSCulator and see, it contains 8, almost identical presets (based on the "pitch ribbon" preset), each mapped to an individual midi channel.

changing banks in Performer, will change to the correlating preset in OSCulator, so you can, e.g. control one instrument with bank one, and another from bank 2 etc.

here's the little magic in OSCulator:

when putting this feature into use with with your own presets, don't forget to change the ranges for this specific message, in OSCulator's 2nd page:
In min. 1 / In max 8
Out min. 0 / Out max 7
Image

creating multiple presets in OSCulator is very easy. in "Presets" drop down menu go > "New Preset". this will duplicate the current settings to a new preset, while staying in the same file.

...and as always, there are many many other ways for you to use and abuse this feature.. so feel free to let us know what you've being doing with it!

best

this is so cool! just what i wished for a couple of days ago.
i am using the 8 channel bank button multipatch on 4 hardware synths allready by just tuning a few cc within osculator. it works perfect even with a 10 node objects. :D
a problem now is my software synths. :?
instant mapping works ok on the first 8 parameters but it should be at least 32 or 64 parameters for most vst instruments!
so i try mapping manually by midi learn. and thats where kp gets bitchy.
as soon as i touch the object i get a bunch of jumping cc's on the parameter and no hold of a specific control message.
am i missing something here? how do i assign specific incoming cc's from osculator to all my configured synth parameters?
another question: can i use kp directly via osc on some osc instruments(e.g. reaktor or circle) AND with osculator for midi translation on midi instruments at same time?
and another update sugestion: color settings for touchareas and the 'wallpapers'. would help to distinguish different bank objects better. ;)
keep it up,
cheers,
hgt

Ableton Live: selecting different instruments via the Konkreet Performer bank button

In OSCulator, map the bank value directly to a MIDI CC (e.g. CC 20 here):

Double-check the message scaling (i.e. don't scale, just send 1..8 out):

In Ableton Live, you can create a rack of instruments or effects (or both) and now use the MIDI CC 20 from Performer's bank to select between them:

For more information regarding Live's racks and chain selector, check the Ableton Live Manual, chapter 17 "Instrument, Drum and Effect Racks".

how can you change CC message for each bank on KP basic on pure data for windows?

As far as I can see I can only send 10 nodes out , and they are all the same on each bank

Hi Punktronica,

You're right, the KP_basic patch doesn't react to the bank button OSC messages.

But I've created a couple of new patches to solve this - one just converts the bank value to a MIDI CC directly so that you can map to a rack macro selector as in the example above; the second patch additionally sets the MIDI Channel via the bank number so that you can then map the same nodes on different banks to different controls in your DAW...

Out of interest, are you controlling Ableton Live or another software?

We should have the patches uploaded tomorrow for you - I'll keep you posted... :)

Ok, as promised, here's the new PureData patches to enable the bank value message:

kp_basic_plus_bank.zip

kp_basic_plus_bank_channel.zip

Hope that helps! :)

 Glad to help - if the patches need some tweaking, Pure Data isn't too hard to get into and can be very powerful for this kinda stuff... Looking forward to seeing what you're doing with KP! :)
